The tune for "Love Me Tender" was based on "Aura Lee." I remember my kids playing "Aura Lee" when they were learning piano and I couldn't help thinking the Elvis lyrics...

Don't forget about Elvis' other Civil-War themed songs, "You Ain't Nothin' But a Yankee" and "Blue Suede Brogans."
