Great article.....really a reflection of the times. It's a shame that the listing of the officers of the 20th Maine was so broken up. They deserve the honor of having been written of and remembered 150 years later, not just 50 years after the battle. Is there a 20th Maine enthusiast out there that can supply the names of the company officers at Gettysburg?

Capt Morrill and Ellis Spear I think it says something like:

I had some splendid captains under me and on them I knew that I could rely. Capt. Morrill, now of Pittsfield, ?? was there and he was a cool headed and reliable man. Capt. Ellis Spear another splendid officer on whose bravery I could depend. I told Morrill to take his company and look out for my flank and no better man could have been selected for the ??? only order to him was to act as the battle developed and this he did ??? Capt Spear wound up on the extreem left as it turned out when the charge came he revived the brunt of its force.
