Identify this stone.
.
Post your answer below. Good Luck!

A white quartz stone and boulders marking the location of Stevens' death on the Ox Hill battlefield. John Ballard, a Confederate veteran who owned the land after the Civil War, placed the markers here. This photograph is taken from the area of the Confederate lines behind the split rail fence.

Metamorphic.

(I can't see anything, if there's supposed to be an image there.)

Now I can see it... but still have no clue. But it looks layered, so I'll switch my answer to "sedimentary." :D

The stone marks the location of Union BGen. Isaac Stevens' death at the Battle of Chantilly/Ox Hill, Sep 1, 1862 during Pope's retreat from Second Manassas/Bull Run. He had seized the colors of the 79th NY and was leading a charge on the Confederate line when he was shot in the head. The According to this blog entry:

It's a piece of sedimentary limestone circa 20,000 b.c.

Edit - I won't say you're wrong. I'll say that this wasn't the officially correct answer.
