Lt. Colonel Robert Johnstone
was that unlucky chap,
that climbed under an outhouse to avoid a scrap.
The 5th New York Cavalry, were his proud men in blue,
perhaps he would have changed things; if he only knew.

Poor Outhouse Johnstone, he's on a pernicious path,
his wife would not touch him, until he had a bath.
He soon became the "butt of jokes", he took quite a hit,
the army finally dismissed him thanks to that awful pit.

Edit - Some sources specify that Johnstone belonged to the 5th New York Cavalry, while others just say he was in the 5th New York without differentiating between cavalry and infantry. Some sources say that he hid under the outhouse, while others are more specific in saying that he hid under the toilet seat. I am accepting all of these as correct.
