In 1853 a small community was formed with the name Cross Roads which later changed its name to honor a Greek city state that was a commercial center. It was soon caught up in the Civil War having a major battle just 20 miles away and within a year had 2 battles in town! What is the name of this town in Mississippi? Who were the opposing commanders of the battle fought in October 1862 in this small town?
