Dead Confederates Blog

"I do wonder sometimes why a chance familial relationship to people who lived and died long before I was born, should obligate me to defend their beliefs that I don't share, to honor actions that I don't consider especially honorable, to assert "truths" that aren't true, or generally not to think for myself."

One of the most thought-provoking post's I have ever seen on this BB.

If you're going to sling around the name of Texas, I'm going to sling back--very hard. No one who's been here wants me to go on a rant, but I will. The people of Texas were worked into a frenzy by some congenital liars, led by one particular U.S. Senator formerly from South Carolina, and did some incredibly stupid stuff....like seceding. It took a while, but they did it. Lies, lies, and more lies. I don't blame the common people, because it was done very well. But that case once and for all settled the deal.

And no, it wasn't an "invasion," but you'll believe what you want to believe. The only nice thing is that you aren't a voter and can't do any harm here. Spout away.

We love these, Nate- my only complaint - this one was too short, gee whiz! It IS hysterical. You find yourself wincing when some unfortunate brings up Texas in an alleged argument There's a deafening silence........ all the animals in the forest find cover, you get behind a tree ( with a pad and pencil because there's 610 pages of Michenor to un-do ), the earth rumbles and here she comes- the star on the blue background fluttering, ( Oh, that's right, and a tiara ) and you think " Hold on to your revisionist History Hats boys, it's going to get ugly. "

You're just wrong, Nate. We DO want to witness a rant- just slow, so we can get it all down.

One day it will not be way over my head to add something of substance to a thread like this- other than to say it's SO weird to see Andy's Blog under scrutiny. There are only a few blogs out there you learn very quickly as a beginner you can read and come away without feeling slimed, or you've somehow been manipulated by a someone terribly clever with words into taking one position or another His is one of them even if I get towed out of my depth frequently.

This will cause a big, old kaboom but Cash's is another. Different than Dead Confederates, still learn a ton without feeling manipulated.

We do like to stir up Nate because the result is so interesting. We just have to fade into the forest before she finds the axe. Are we having fun yet?

Why in hell are you still up? I have an excuse. What is yours?

And the worst part is this: http://deadconfederates.com/why-dead-confederates/

Prejudiced? Hostile? Please. If anything, he sounds wistful. There's not a trace of passing judgment there, though, not a single trace.

Dead Confederates is both intelligent and fun. I check it out at least a couple of times a week and I always learn something new.

But it's so much easier to be...offended. :D
I suppose.

Some people seem to think that being offended is fun even. Though from personal experience, I'm at my happiest when dealing with something where I don't feel offended, so I have to admit to being unable to fathom that sentiment.

I'm not either really. Blogs, for me anyway, need to have a Facebook feed to alert me to a new post and whether or not I find it interesting enough to read. I don't go blog hopping.

Pat actually does a really nice job with linking his blog to Facebook notifications.
Thank you Husker. I appreciate your comment.
