Civil War Trust also has age-specific curriculum that is free via download.

But like most curriculum subjects, not everyone will like their agenda isn't being pushed enough. Such is the life of a teacher.

If you are asking me why I am unsure. That drummer boy story for one. I've been working 12 hour days so I don't have a lot of time for research. I should like to see the passage of that book where it supposedly comes from. Doing a quick skim of it I haven't found it.

Ah. I think it comes from From Bull Run to Appomattox: A Boy's View. At least according to the site source I followed.

Back in the early 90s Disney tried to build a park in Haymarket, VA that was history themed and would've had a Civil War component. It was shot down, of course. Part of me wonders what it could've been like.

Hmmm....not sure. But in thinking about it again I wonder if that Joe Ryan wrote it based off what he read in what Luther Hopkins book. About all I can think of.

You're aware the site you visited is not part of Civil War Trust, right? It's an independent site they provided a link for.

Yup. They are responsible for what they recommend.

They also present primary documents from both "sides." Unlike some people they are non-biased and a teacher needs that to let children read and discuss differences and what's correct and what's not. But since you don't teach, I would guess you miss that fact.
