True! One dark and stormy night around 3am we had to help a cow who was calving - miserable weather! A bolt of bright lightning lit up the field and what do we see but the old bull, head down, coming at us like a freight train. Then all was pitch black. Next thing, we were sitting in a tree listening to him snort around at the bottom. I do not know how we found the tree or how all of us got up into it - I think we flew! (We must have some bat in us somewhere... )
Phred....our family version of Old Yeller, saved his young teenaged master from what our hunters judged was a 400--pound boar one night...tore straight
into the boar and gave the boy time to get up a big fallen tree trunk. Phred weighed 50 pounds soaking wet at best.
