When the Hudson Bay trappers came down into southern Oregon, there were several tribes living around the Table Rocks, a formation in the middle of the Rogue Valley. The trappers annihilated the people on Table Rock, many of whom fled down the Illinois River into California - my mom's gggrandmother was one of them. Peter Skene Ogden noted in his diary simply, "Fought the Indians at Table Rock". But so many were killed the bodies actually dammed up the Illinois River, and bones were being found for years and years afterward. But how many were killed? How can it be found out? Ebenezer Creek is such an incident. Something tragic and terrible happened, but who can tell what it really was.

B ut in the heat of war, no one took notice of the dead at Ebenezer Creek. Only a summary investigation took place, and Wheeler's official report indicated he captured 2,000 contraband and returned them to their rightful owners. Davis claimed in his report the train overslept.

Local residents said it took five years for the bodies to flow into the river out of the creek, where frequently the corpses dammed the water flow.

Today, kayak trips emphasize the beauty of the creek, and the natural splendors of the black water swamp.

But the locals say you can hear cries and screams coming across the water when it rains.

Thanks, but I think I'll continue producing what I want to produce rather than what you want me to produce. To be very frank, what you want to see is quite near the bottom of my priorities. Col Kerr was an eyewitness. Sherman wasn't. Did it ever occur to you that Sherman and Jefferson C. Davis might have reason to want to not believe Kerr's account?

Another problem with your source is the sloppiness of it. First off, Charles D. Kerr wasn't in the 126th Cavalry.

Massacer probably not, did people drown trying to escape from being sent back to their masters.. Most likely..Were some slaves killed by Confederates? From accounts of other events where rebels captured blacks they thought were helping Northeners also most likely that some were killed..

In historical accounts, "most likely" means "I dont know"....

well,maby you should go read the source,get it thru your skull that Sherman and the boys in blue wasnt always right, Post proof that Wheelers men killed those slaves....Not some BS like a wagizine atricle,but some true proof. Cuz so far,we have posted proff that Davis abandoned the slaves,weve posted proof that Davis murderd Bull Nelson. Were the proof to go along with your views?

You started this thread to try to tie Sherman into the deaths of slaves. The source YOU posted described the deaths of those slaves by Wheelers men.. If you disagree with your own source then go have a argument with yourself...
