The Butternut Boys

During the 60s (1960s, that is) there was a folk song released that, I seem to recall, was titled "The Butternut Boys", at least that is what I believe it was called. I have been unable to find a YouTube reference or anywhere else, for that matter. This 83 year old was wondering if anyone else has a similar recollection and/or can provide a possible link? Thanks for any assistance.

Can't seem to find anything online about a folksong called "The Butternut Boys" but the song "Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier," talks about, "There she sits on Butternut Hill..." Could that be the song you're thinking of?

Thanks, but I don't believe that is the one. I, too, have searched and researched but to no avail. I do remember seeing it in 1975 at a cousin's house on a 45rpm record and listening to it. At the same time, there was also a 45 rpm version of Lorena. Don't remember for sure, but they may have been "A" & "B" sides. Still looking!
