Wittenberg was going through cancer treatment and trying to get surgery on his hip and then suffered a stroke. He spent some time in a facility to help regain his speech, with some success, but let's face it--he and his wife Susan have a long road ahead. And let's just say they are having a hard time making ends meet.

I knew that I recognized Wittenberg's name. Sure enough, on my bookshelf I have Eric Wittenberg's 2016 book, "Out Flew the Sabres - The Battle of Brandy Station." He co-wrote it with Daniel Davis. I bought it at full price back then, and enjoyed it.
