General Brayman?

While thumbing through several volumes of "Images of War" by the National Historic Society I came upon a picture identified only as General Brayman. The only general by that name that I can find is a Mason Brayman. And this is clearly not him unless possibly this is a much earlier photo.Any input will be appreciated though I somehow feel this image may have been posted and the question regarding the ID of this gentleman may have been asked already.

My memory is not what it used to be but I think I posted this picture on another forum last year and It had a certain know-it-all stumped. It must have been hard for him to admit it, the words "I Don't Know" seem to be pretty hard for some people to utter. In fact I'm convinced there are some who have never admitted it and used those words. (in public anyway)

I don't have a collection of Civil War Generals but I've read somewhere that only 5 generals had their photograph taken while wearing glasses. He must have trimmed his beard for the cameraman, his beard reached his belt at one time.

Maybe he was mistakenly identified as Mason Brayman instead of his son or other relative. I can't find a photo of his son to compare, but here is his grave: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/61223567/robert-bruce-brayman

Probably more than five generals had their photo taken while wearing glasses. Brayman plus these five.

Also, there are photos of brevet generals wearing glasses. And photos of generals with lorgnettes. See George Meade below.

Thanks.I had a list of the "glasses generals" but can't seem to locate it. Now if we could only identify the mystery man who had ringlets like Pickett or Custer. The National Historic Society didn't know him either.
