While visiting a neighbor last night, we got into the topic of the ACW, and he pulls out a couple binders that I’ve never seen before. It was a miniature collection of all of the major battle flags of the ACW. Each page lists the history of the unit with battles participated in on the reverse and had a small, hand crafted actual Flag enclosed within. One of the coolest ACW contemporary collectibles I think I’ve ever seen. He’s 69 and said his father owned it, so it’s got a little age, but he had no idea when they were actually produced and sold. Between the two volumes, there were at least 50 or 60 flags. Here’s a few examples - sorry for the poor lighting quality

I've never seen a collection quite like this. I like it!
I have this too; these were offered as a 2 patches per month subscription by Willabee & Ward back in the late 80's or early 90's.

Each is a really beautiful miniature stitched flag - there 20 Union and 20 Confederate flags, each is 6" X 6".

Here are the included flags: 40 Flags with a nice written recap of each: 8th VA Infantry Regiment, 3rd MS Infantry Regiment, 1st FL Infantry Battalion, 3rd KY Infantry Regiment, Polk's Corps,20th TX Infantry Regiment, 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles, 26th NC Infantry Regiment, Confederate States Navy, 5th Co WA Artillery, Van Dorn's Corps,10th TN Infantry Regiment, 8th TX Cavalry Regiment, 6th TX Infantry Regiment, 47th NC Infantry Regiment, 10th SC Infantry Regiment, 22d AL Infantry Regiment, 1st AR Infantry Regiment, 10th LA Infantry Regiment, 1st SC Regiment, 1st MN Infantry Regiment, 13th CT Infantry Regiment, 7th NJ Infantry Regiment, 13th IN Infantry Regiment, 20th NY Cavalry Regiment, 19th IN Infantry Regiment, 9th MA Light Artillery, 13th KY Infantry Regiment, 2nd WI Infantry Regiment, 2nd PA Heavy Artillery Regiment, 83rd PA Infantry Regiment, 54th MA Infantry Regiment, 18th OH Infantry Regiment, 15th WI Infantry Regiment, 69th NY Infantry Regiment, 1st DE Infantry Regiment, 1st ME Heavy Artillery Regiment, 1st MI Infantry Regiment, United States Navy and 2nd RI Infantry Regiment.

Just curious - what was the cost of it back then? These are great! I found a couple on auction sites, no idea if complete, but certainly hard to find these days

Appears Willabee & Ward also produced this in addition to the one under discussion though I was not aware of it until today:

https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/58217547_willabee-and-ward-the-civil-war-patch-collection

Based on the cover these patches are based on Mort Kunstler paintings.

"consists of 14 Modern patches depicting events from the civil war. Each patch comes with a page telling about the patch. Some patches included but not limited to are battle of the wilderness, the Gettysburg address, the wars bloodiest day and many others".

Very creative descriptions I must say. The 7th New Jersey fired at most two volleys before being routed from the field. The collision with the battery is taken from Catton's Glory Road which is incorrect. The flag shown is the the type of flag that was issued to all NJ regiments when they were mustered
