My friend and LONG time relic hunter Charlie Harris has co-authored a new book with John Turner on the Snake buckle. He gave me my copy this past weekend. Its a 150 pages of Snake plates from all time periods with lots of photos and dimensions on these plates. It is a welcome addition to CW research. You might know Charlie as he is the one located all the Lookout Mountain cave guns and brought them back to Tenn. I sent him some photos of all the gun parts I located here in Demop as all the cave guns were also issued here.

WOW! What a great image! Love the buckle and the cockade. What are the tabs on the sleeves for? Is he ID'd?
Thanks. I have absolutely no background on the image unfortunately. He appears to have the less common snake belt buckle that has the two lions heads to the side. I'd love to know the history of that style.

By tabs on the sleeves are you talking about at the cuff area? Again, I know nothing other than this looks like some standard cadet type uniform. Hopefully someone here can enlighten us with more info.
