Washington Trip in 2 weeks

Here is our itinerary as it now stands:

Thursday 28th -

- Mt Vernon
- Arlington Cemetery
- Old Town Alexandria

Friday 29th -

- Lincoln Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
- WW2 & Vietnam Memorials
- Smithsonian Museums - Air & Space, American History, Natural History

Saturday 30th - (Baltimore)

- Babe Ruth House
- Fort McHenry
- B&O Museum
- Baltimore Ships

Sunday 31st

- Lincoln's Cottage
- Fords Theatre and Peterson House
- International Spy Museum
- The Chinese restaurant at the Surrat Boarding House

Monday 1st (Winchester)

- Patsy Cline House
- Kernstown Battlefield (just stop in-front of the sign and take a pic since can't go in)
- The Daniel Morgan statue (didn't know the Revolutionary General died there!)
- Balls Bluff (as a stop heading out)
- Stonewall Jackson HQ (depending on time/wife approval)
- Third Winchester Battlefield
- Cedar Creek

North Point Battlefield has been dropped simply because it's so out of the way of everything else. Fort Stevens, the Battleground Cemetery and the African-American Civil War Museum got dropped because, as we are doing metro most of the days, it's going to be very tough to swing by those places while also trying to hit the stuff still on the list, which are all time-ticketed. Manassas simply got dropped because it's going to be much easier to go to Winchester and simply enjoy being there without feeling like we got to rush. Also, we're flying out at 7 am from DC the next morning, so can't spend all day away from DC.

Sgt. Harms...you may commence.

How are you getting around on Mar 31 transportation wise?

We will be doing public transit.
2 years ago today. That was a good day.@mjr251

It was a pretty good time! Me and my little bro had a ton of fun.
I bet you know more about the Battle of Sabine Pass than anyone else in Idaho.

Main reason we've been thinking of doing the public transit is because we've been told that Uber and Taxi is pretty pricey in DC. But if it's decent priced, we'd not be opposed to it.
Public transit is fine in central area. There's even cheap bus transportation along the National Mall.
Lincoln Cottage is mid city and has only one visitor entrance. It's not near any Metro station. It's actually on the grounds of the Soldiers Home which has a residential population and is used to receiving cabs and Uber. It's physically close to Catholic University but the visitor entrance isn't.
There is a metro station at Catholic University ( Brookland CUA) and no doubt cabs are nearby. March 31 is Easter Sunday and the largest Catholic Church in size in the US is adjacent to the University so there should be a lot of visitors that day and also cabs.
I've become a recent Uber convert especially when visiting other cities. I rarely used to use taxis in part because they prefer to stay downtown and do short trips and are reluctant to go too far out of the center of the city where they probably won't get a fare going back downtown. Uber doesn't have that issue.
Lincoln Cottage is well worth visiting and it will get you into an interesting part of DC. There's also a National Cemetery nearby where John Logan and David Stanley are buried. There's a historic city cemetery close by that's a candidate for most interesting cemetery in Washington BUT that is way too much for you to try and do in one day.
