Walker’s Texas Division

Is anyone aware of any solid research on the strength of Walker's Texas Division—by regiments—in the Spring of 1864?

I have rough estimates for the strength of the entire division and for the strengths of the brigades (Waul, Randal, Scurry) but locating any approximate strengths for most of the regiments has been, so far, unsuccessful.

I can't find anything in the Official Records -- you'd have the best luck either getting individual regimental histories, or an in depth study of the April, 1864 Battle of Jenkins Ferry, in which the division participated.

Richard Lowe Has a book "Walker's Texas Division, C.S.A.: Greyhounds of the Trans-Mississippi" that could have the numbers you are looking for. I have read the book but do not recall how specific he gets with the troop numbers, strength, etc.

Another book that may have the numbers that you need is "The Campaigns of Walker's Texas Division" by J. P. Blessington. Joseph Palmer Blessington was a member of Co. H, 16th Texas Infantry.

My gg grandfather became a Greyhound when Col. Luckett's 3rd Texas Infantry became part of Gen. Scurry's brigade.
