What is this? Springfield carbine?

Hi just bought this gun. Looks to me this was cut down to a carbine, and put together with parts from m/1861 and m/1863 (stock).
What your thoughts on it?

Someone did indeed cut down an M1861, looking at it though I don’t think it was a period job. I can’t tell you why but I’ll wager there are some repro parts in the mix.

That CS mark on the barrel is spurious and the Patina of the barrel is off in relation to the rest of the arm. I’m tempted to say someone decided to bubba a Bannerman. I hate to say it but I would have avoided the piece.

It is supposed to be a Richmond Armory carbine made from recycled parts. I think it is a more modern assemblage though.

Richmond carbines are very popular with N-SSA shooters. A whole lot of them have been made up for competition in the last 50 years.

How is the nosecap attached?

Yea, it's not easy to draw conclusion on this piece. I might been altered multiple times. I do think it started out as a genuine cut down though, but can't really tell. At one point it was browned and later that was scrubbed away partly. The rear sight is defenitly homemade and that's make it obvious that it was not a genuine cut down during CW.
Anyway I'm happy with it and it still performs on the range 👍😁.
PS the nose cap is attached with a single screw, center in stock under barrel. Thanks for your inputs and thoughts on it.

A little confusing😁 I meant the rear sight make it obvious that it was not intended to pass as a genuine Richmond.
