Federal Arsenals

Hey folks...I am in a Ph.D. program and current course is on Civil War research. I have an interest in writing about a federal arsenal, perhaps one that was significant to the outcome of the war. Can anyone point me in the right direction or know of any good source material. I searched the internet, but really did not find much related to a comprehensive listing of all Union arsenals that operated during the war. I know of the Frankford Arsenal and of course Harpers Ferry, but that's about it. Thanks in advance.

The United States Armory and Arsenal at Springfield, Mass., was the oldest -- the site being chosen by George Washington. It was the principal manufacturer of U.S. military firearms from 1792 to 1968. After the capture of Harper's Ferry, Springfield was for a short time the only arsenal in the Union, other than a few storage depots (until Rock Island opened in 1862).
Wikipedia claims: "The facility would play a decisive role in the American Civil War, producing most of the weaponry used by Union troops." [which may be an exaggeration ??]
