Found at site I've also found the Spencer bullet and some horse tack. There's a mark on back but can't really make it out in any light, if shadow is cast it has an S and possibly another letter or two. Your mind can start seeing different words or letters if you look hard enough and start to change frequently I've noticed (haha) . Does anyone know what style this is and is it period? Can you really tell if it's camp used or just a farmers axe .it has a reinforced tip. Thanks for checking it out. I'm going to try to clean it even more to see what if anything it reveals .

Also Labor Day weeekend I'm going to TN for a several day hunt with a friend. Hope I find some goodies, he already has in the past.

It is of the style of the day. There really is no way to know if it was military used or civilian. Both sides liberally procured from dry good stores, suppliers and locals as needed.

It has seen hard use.
