This year it is being held at the Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum in the historic town of Chappell Hill, Texas. 27 total in attendance. During the war a female and male college was there. Several members of CivilWarTalk are in attendance. I will try to get a group picture and post it later.

Member @Joe Walker gave a presentation about a meeting that took place in Richmond on January 24,1865. There had been scuttlebutt about the brigade being consolidated with another brigade because of its reduced numbers. They wanted no part of that. :

@Joe Walker has a direct descendant who was killed at The Wilderness whose final resting place is Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery.

Some 5th Texas Infantry, 8th Texas Cavalry, 24th Texas Cavalry, 25th Texas Cavalry and 20th Texas Infantry soldiers were local boys.

A resident of Santa Fe, Texas gave a presentation about John H. Roberts, Co. E, 5th Texas Infantry, who eventually settled in Santa Fe. He was President of Hood's Texas Brigade Association for many years. The resident bought the last house John H. Roberts lived in and is restoring it. :

There was an Association member present at the meeting whom I shared a table with during lunch. I had never met him before so I struck up a conversation with him and asked him where he lives and who his brigade ancestor is. Turns out he lives about 15-20 minutes from me and his ancestor is Sgt. J.T. Longino, Co. E, 1st Texas Infantry. Also turned out that he has an Ancestry subscription but not a fold3 subscription and had never seen his records there. I pulled up the fold3 records, 23 pages, on my phone and handed it to him so he could look at them. I then downloaded the records as a PDF, got his email address, emailed the PDF to him and he confirmed receipt of the email. All that done within minutes. How cool is it to be able to do that?

Great post.
I had a Great-GrandUncle in 3d Arkansas who died on 2 July 1863.
I bought one of the books on the Hood's Brigade that was published by the association.
I may have to join up.

I didn't know either. I've passed through Chappell Hill many times but had only stopped at the sausage factory/restaurant on the north side of TX290 and the bakery/restaurant on the south side of TX290. If I hadn't gone there to attend a CW event this past Saturday, this thread would have been in the Traveler's Companion forum. As soon as I finish the soldier bio writeups, I've got a cemetery visit thread to post from this trip too.

Besides the 1st, 4th, and 5th Texas Infantry, three other units were part of the brigade, the 3rd Arkansas, 18th Georgia, and Hampton's Legion of SC Infantry. Descendants of all 6 units are eligible to join as well as associates.
