"Jefferson Davis, former president of the Confederate States of American, died on December 6, 1889 at the New Orleans home of Judge Charles E. Fenner. Later that day his body was removed to the City Hall at Lafayette Square (now Gallier Hall), where it remained in state until December 11. On that date the body was carried by a funeral procession through the streets of New Orleans to Metairie Cemetery. Davis was buried there in the tomb of the Army of Northern Virginia. On May 27, 1893, his remains were transferred to a new casket and placed in state at Confederate Memorial Hall for a day before being removed to the Louisville & Nashville train that carried them to Richmond, Virginia, for reinterment in the Hollywood Cemetery."

Jefferson Davis was first buried at Metarie Cemetary in New Orleans. However, with many requests from former soldiers and friends of the south, Varina Davis conceded and had his remains removed and taken to Hollywood Cemetary, Richmond, VA where he rest with many of his soldiers

Yesterday's Question: Jefferson Davis was buried twice, name both burial locations. First in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, then later reinturred in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va.

The Davis Guard Medal made for him by Chas. Gottchalk, that was issued to the troops of Lt. Dick Dowling at the Battle of Sabine Pass, Texas. One was given to Pres. Davis but it was confiscated by Gen. Wilson after Davis' capture. It was obtained in 1875 and re-presented to Davis at that Texas State Fair.

This was the Davis Guard Medal...awarded to the defenders of Sabine Pass...Two story versions.. One that it was sent to Davis when it was struck...and taken when he was captured...or...It was made in honor of his visit to Texas in 1875....I always thought it was made for him at the time of issuance...

Good q mike, I had to write a friend to get the answer to this one. It was his Davis Guard Medal (from Sabine pass, Tx.) that was confiscated from him when he was captured. It was somehow re-obtained by southerners and given back to him at the Texas State Fair.

First of all, I'm not agree with your definition of "aggressive acts".
Anyway, in February, 1861, Helena militia units marched on Little Rock, besieging its Federal arsenal and forcing its surrender; Pine Bluff patriotic citizens seized military supplies destined for Fort Smith.

The earliest action I could find was the takeover of the Federal Arsenal at Little Rock...Governor Henry M. Rector threatened to use state militia to take it by force if necessary....It was surrendered in Feb. of 1861....

The First Agressive Act of the Pro-secessionist government was the seizure of the Little Rock Arsenal on February 8, 1861. Four Months prior to Arkansas, Adoption of a Secession Ordinance.

Yesterday's Question: What was the first aggressive act of the pro-secession government in Arkansas? The siezing of the federal arsenal at Little Rock.
