Had a scary experiance today..

I love muzzleloading. ive never been ice fishing but im sure its a blast. I do enjoy fly fishing, how ever i dont get the chance to go very often. Snakes are horrible here as well. Were over ran by copperheads and cotton mouths. We have alot of rattlers too but more cotton mouths and copperheads than anything else. What kind of snakes do yall have?
We have a bunch of rattlers and cotton mouths...haven't seen a copperhead in a while , but I know they are out there. Turkey population has been going down in my area for some time...have no idea why that came to mind as they have nothing to do with snakes. But, anyway..my dad saw several last weekend he was all excited about that . Although I have been turkery hunting with my dad and grandfather , I have never turkey hunted on my own. Did make an attempt at duck hunting the winter..didn't do well..but am addicted now..must do more exploring on that issue for sure. I would rather hunt/fish or camp than shop for sure. Regardless the accidents we outdoors folks get into, it's still safer than being in a city for sure.

So duck hunting is your favorite expedition? Have always been stuck on deer hunting and fishing..and never knew why I never attempted anything else..so it is time to broaden my horizans as there is so much to know and learn...

Ain't funny, McGee. (know this is lost on those who're not familiar with Fibber McGee and Molly) There is a gal who picked up a bacteria from water she was playing in. She has lost a leg and maybe her fingers. For us unitiated, they call it flesh-eating bacteria. There are things out there that neosporin can't fix. Keep a close eye, my friend. And don't wait a second if you're not healing as you might normally do.

It really don't care if you are a manly man.

Ive been keeping peroxide on it as well. Im gonna give it a few days under my own care,if its not getting any better by next week,i will be seeing a dr. I certainly hope i didnt contract a flesh eating bacteria.

And to bring this around to the Civil War, a couple weekends ago I saw this near Devil's Den:

I'm reckoning there is! Piles of rocks out here we avoid - along with buckbrush and piles. Rattlers just love them! But, on the good side, rattlers are all we got. As as matter of fact, there was one just down at the creek. He was after a mouse and I know that mouse was glad I stepped between... Big - four foot I'm thinking, plenty rattles. Karuks say they won't bite us as they are our aunt but I've got a bunch of other tribes - he might go for a Choctaw or Shoshone!

looks like 3 of them to me..

There were two of them. During the week I had watched a video with Tim Smith and Gary Adelman on Devil's Den where Tim pointed out this rock, saying he often saw snakes there. So that weekend I said to myself, "Self, why not take a look?" So I did. Sho 'nuff, I saw a snake and took his picture. Then I moved around to the left to take his picture from the side and saw the second snake. The first one didn't like having his picture taken because he started to look like he was thinking about striking, so I beat a hasty retreat.
