Would a Confederate Lt. Carry a Federal NCO Sword?

Agree, if your only going to have a handful of men, go the Sgt. route. Or if you must be a officer. The suggestion of not carrying any weapon is a better option than a NCO sword hung improperly. I still believe a cane is your best bet, and they can be found everywhere. I have a nice one with a brass head I use on occassion. Tons of mom and pop antiques shops, and consignment stores have them for 20 or less.

Conor_B your in command you deside, as A CSA General I wear a sword, the sword belt rigging , as Cav. Reg, QM Sgt. I wear an NCO sword. Bob is right Cav. annd Art. johan_steele made very good points too.Delhi Rangers made a good point. When your in battle you use what you can, to surive. Like taktng weapons from the dead and clothing shoes boots ets. Their are stories of a Csa soldier taking a frock coating and dying it and wearing it thu out the war. KeysorSoze very good point.

Hey,

I am doing a small-ish event in the fall and I will be portraying a Confederate Lieutenant. The only sword I have is a Federal NCO sword (Before anyone says anything about the baldric i already have a plan for that) . So would a Confederate Infantry Lieutenant carry a Federal NCO sword?

Colonel Charles Marshall, Aide-de`-Camp of General Lee's describes his "Federal" sword not handsome enough and swaped with Colonel Henry Young (Judge Advocate General) who had a dress sword, to include borrowing all sorts of things............
