If I had to guess I would say Reb, because of the knife.

Yank, as often as not the photographer used props. And a knife means nothing more than the man is holding a knife.

He has on a 4 button sack coat, I would say yank, even though the buckel almost looks like Virginia Militia or similar? It a wreath and frame buckel.
