I hope some "cross forum pollination" is OK. I saw the same announcement for this event on the Civil War Reenactor forum and asked about how they plan to get the Federal troops across the river. One of the organizers posted the following response, which makes this event all the more interesting:

Claude,

I am supporting the Battle of Fredericksburg Committee and there is coordination on going for the construction of period pontoons to recreate the landing of the 89th NY at the City Dock and also for the Virginia National Guard to emplace a modern military pontoon bridge as an analog for the pontoon bridges used at the middle crossing. The Federal forces will be encamped at Ferry Farm and will either cross via the pontoons rowing across the river or march over the bridge into the city.

You can expect addional details to come out in early March, including instructions on how to participate with the group portraying the 89th NY. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning the overall event, please contact the committee via the email provided by Jerry Lynes in the announcement. Individuals interested in assisting with the construction of the period pontoons, please contact me directly at [email protected]
Your Obedient Servant,

Peter M. Berezuk

perhaps you could assist me.I wish to register as a war correspondant(bohemian brigade special artist) and it seems as it is quite difficult.any push in the right direction would help.thanks

officially registered.hope the weather cooperates.i need a civilian greatcoat,i think.hehe

That is true. As far as I know the Federal registrations are closed. I may be incorrect but I believe that Confederate slots still exist- although I'm not sure as to what quantity.

I believe that is true. They can only support a small -scale reenactment,i think. If it is done right,it should still be great.I will be there as a correspondent, though.

I would think you would be under Civilian if you're a correspondent. So, you'll need to register as one.
