yuunk: Someone with whom there is displeasure. POWs often referred to a relative or girlfriend who didn't write very many letters to them, or only wrote them very short letters, as a "yuunk". The origin of the word is unknown but it might be that the POWs just couldn't bear to call them a "skunk" when they wrote letters of complaint home about the situation. Used at a number of locations, the term was most common among POWs at Camp Chase and Johnson's Island.
