Not only am I seeking to purchase the skillets, both extra large, large, and medium, but the rack that suspends over the fire, perhaps a rack and pocker and kettle retriever.

My apologies, I do not know the proper names of the equipement.

Thank you in advance,

~Kerri

No expert here, but today's cast-iron cookware appears to be the same as was used then. Next time you're at a festivity with a blacksmith, ask him to make you the accessories. At those I've attended, the blacksmith made and sold period pot hooks and stands.

Flea market and garage sales come to mind. Saves on shipping too.

BTW, last time I went to Cracker Barrel, they had cast iron that was made in America.

You're going to want sheet iron pots and pans if you can get them. They're lighter than cast iron as well as more period vcorrect. Hit up the Amish in your area for either would be my first suggestion. the cast iron we have today is actually considerably heavier than that of the 1860's. Cast Iron has been around a LONG time, predates Christ IIRC, but there was a major change in how it was made in the 1870's which is the Cast Iron we know today.

I have several pieces from both the vendors below. I've not purchased anything from them for several years but they've always done well by me.

Another option is to walk into a local welding shop, preferably one whose primary customers are the agricultural field, w/ a sketch and detailed description of what you want. It is truly amazing what can be created from some simple bar stock, a vise and torch.

Good Luck
