Today is the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Wilson's Creek (Oak Hills).

I will post some pictures of the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Museum (Formerly Known : General Sweeny Museum) after I return home from work.

This is a museum packed with a punch!

My son and I visited Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove battlefields in one day back in 2011. I highly recommend all three Trans-Mississippi Civil War sites! Well preserved.....

Years ago, I did a tour of Wilson's Creek on horseback. Not sure that's still offered, but if it is, I highly recommend. Though it is a full day in the saddle, so get ready for some saddle sores. One thing that becomes clear on a horse ride is that the terrain looks a lot gentler than it really is. Especially where the fighting took place, this was some difficult turf.

Excellent work, Bill. Many thanks for the excellent photos. I live so close, but have never been.

Thank you, sir!

This battlefield is an easy drive south from Boonville to Wilson's Creek. Make sure you also include the Pea Ridge Military Park just over the border in Arkansas.
