I get that but if those in the classroom don't speak out against untruths, we become complicit in the spread of those untruths. Personally, I will not be a part of allowing outsiders who think they know what's going on in schools get the final word, especially when that word is not accurate. We as teachers owe society that much.
And that is certainly an important educational topic of discussion that we can make a separate thread for on U of ACW.

Here is what this thread is/was intended for, from July 16, 2013..."What has happened in your teaching career, Civil War related or otherwise, that reminds you why you do it, or did it if you are retired?"

A former 6th grader of mine made Honors History his freshman year and thanked me...pretty darn cool.

I also have had the pleasure of increasing another's interest in learning about the holocaust on her own.

Boom!!! I'll take it.
