I have been trying to study Reconstruction over the last 14 months. I have read 18 books on the subject in that time ranging from Dunning School historians to Foner and his progeny. One thing I can't figure out is exactly which whites were disenfranchised at different times during Reconstruction.
By disenfranchised, I mean legally prohibited from voting.
