My ggg-uncle served in an Illinois regiment in the Army of the Tennessee, from Ft Donelson thru the March to the Sea. I'd have to pick that regiment.

My family has been in Ohio for over 200 years and I had a relative who fought with the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Militia in the Revolutionary War. It would be Ohio, my native state.

It is too hard to ignore my modern feelings against slavery, so I would say any Union State would do. How about one with a nice uniform?
