The principal item on my bucket list is to do a thorough tour following Sherman's march from Atlanta to Savannah and up through the Carolinas. I realize we will have to pick which wing we follow, but a little research will tell us which way to go.

What's on your ACW bucket list?

I love Shiloh. Last time we were there was a week before the 150th anniversary. It was beautiful but very hot.

See the CSS Hunley and USS Monitor exhibits. Go back to the KC area, and tour the Westport Battlefield area.

The entire Western theater (and by that I mean Army of Tennessee/Army of Cumberland/Army of the Tennessee, etc.) in chronological order from start to finish.

Hey, it's a bucket list, right? If I ever retire, I have to have things to keep me out of my wife's hair.

But I don't plan to pull a Rosy and sit in Tullahoma for months. I would speed up the timeline somewhat.

Hiking Jackson's flanking march at Chancellorsville is the first thing that comes to mind.

I was lucky enough to do this on a Bob Krick tour. Amazing experience.

Been planning a Vicksburg trip for several years now. So far, I am told to put aside three days to see it properly.

More if you want to see the other battlefields nearby like Big Black River and Champion Hill.

Can you recommend a place to stay near there, 1Lt Jimklag?

It's been a long time since I was there last. We stayed in Jackson about 50 miles away. Big Black and Champion Hill are between Jackson and Vicksburg.
