This may be a trick question. KIA may be the second biggest killer. Is Killed in Action the same as battlefield wounds? "They died of Southern fever and Southern steel and shot". Fever comes first. Can I buy a vowel?

You're right. KIA could be considered the same as battlefield wounds, so that may be the answer.
