NF What is the best book on William Tecumseh Sherman? Let us know what you think

Non-Fiction
What about William Tecumseh Sherman: In the Service of My Country: A Life by James Lee McDonough? McDonough devotes as much attention to Sherman's life before and after the Civil War as the four years during it. Since I enjoy a good character study, I enjoyed learning about Sherman's complicated relationship with his wife, Ellen, and how he dealt with his grief after the death of his young son, Willy.
It seems McDonough in general is an author who rarely comes up in discussion. He's authored (or co-authored) books on Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, and Franklin, but no one ever brings them up. I can't help but wonder why.

I would have to respectfully disagree with the previous comments about Fierce Patriot. I found it to be quite interesting. I think it does get a little in the weeds when it gets in to his post military life, but other than that its worth at least giving a shot.
