What could this be?

Found this today, while relic hunting an un-documented Cavalry camp. It's about the diameter of a 50 cent piece, guilded on the face, but not on the back. Appears to be some type of floral design.

Picture of the back

This is convex on the front, and concave on the back. Here's the back. It's a mystery item to me?

First thought was a smashed minie' ball, but if you can see a floral design ....

Could be anything. Lots of post coming. Reserve time.

Could be the emblem that goes on your Ammo box shoulder strap, or the piece that goes on the front flap. Can we get another pic of the front that isn't so blurry?

Too big for a button? How about a woman's button? How about junk jewelry. Surely they must have had that back then too.

Well, It's not a button. Way too big. I think junk jewelry is more like it. I had wondered about it being some type of rosette, but I don't know. I guess it's something to "stump" us with.....Anyway, thanks.

My bet would be some piece of junk jewelry too. I think a minie ball is out, because it is definitely made of iron, due to the rust.
