Odd how the brigade got stronger going into November and December; I assumed they just never recovered since the Valley Campaign.

I had always assumed that Wharton, Texas in Wharton County was named after either General Gabriel Wharton or Col. John Wharton. It seems neither, They were just boys when the place was settled and named after 2 brothers named Wharton thirty years earlier.
