Sorry for posting an image off theme but I wanted to show my field study technique that I hope to employee at reenactment sites. The sketch took 5 minutes (the watercolor later at my leisure). But that may still be too much time with all the action taking place. My subjects will need to be more sedentary.

These are amazing. It's exactly the kind of art I would have done in high school/college in my spare time, only my works would have been 1) less detailed and 2) been loaded with fantasy elements (winged Confederate elves, anyone?)

I really like the "Union Raider." And you do horses really well. Not every artist can do a good horse's head.
-- are you left-handed? I noticed that a lot of your shooters are shooting left-handed.

Thank you - I enjoy drawing Calvary action.

I am right handed and my left handed shooters were not intentional. I had not noticed that.
