For bear?Believe it or not, my father used to hunt with an Indian man like that in NH. My dad preferred his rifle, Jim, his knife.

Thanks.A lot of work, but a great thread.
For bear?
Yikes!Yes for bear. They would hunt in the Plymouth/Rumney region of NH which is central area. My dad said Jim would get the bear to stand up and then rush in. Dad didn't want to quite take that chance.
I knew you meant it as a compliment, I just did not know in what sense. Thanks.Btw, I meant that as a compliment, as in I wish to see you add more. And disappointment that the review was at its end.
Well Pat, the only thing I can add at the moment is Longstreet respected Hampton as Stuart’s most reliable General. I’ll have to look and see if I can find a perticular reference. If you think about it, it was a no brainer.@War Horse Longstreet recommended Wade be moved west. Any idea of their relationship?
Remember, Longstreet’s wishes during the Gettysburg Campaign were that Stuart leave Hampton with the ANV. To bad Stuart ignored his wishes.@War Horse Longstreet recommended Wade be moved west. Any idea of their relationship?
True.Remember, Longstreet’s wishes during the Gettysburg Campaign were that Stuart leave Hampton with the ANV. To bad Stuart ignored his wishes.
I need to learn my Confederate cavalry commanders better.Well Pat, the only thing I can add at the moment is Longstreet respected Hampton as Stuart’s most reliable General. I’ll have to look and see if I can find a perticular reference. If you think about it, it was a no brainer.
Thanks.Impressive write-up. Thanks for all the work you put in!
Two of the best resources on the subject are Eric’s books, “Plenty of Blame To Go Around” and “One Continouse Fight” at least concerning the ANV’s calvarly. There all there, not to mention a number of Union calvarly officers that made a huge difference for the Union cause.I need to learn my Confederate cavalry commanders better.
Great recommendation.Eric's Glory Enough for All, about Trevillian Station, has a lot about Wade Hampton in it.
