Not near as radical as Clement Vallandigham but Voorhees was a member of the Copperheads as well. Plus he was supposedly a member of the Knights of the Golden Circle. This affiliation with the Knights was probably unlikely and more of just accusations by enemies than real.

Yet he still had a close friendship with Lincoln. They had met back in the days of circuit riding and struck up a friendship that lasted through politcal differences.
