I really believe the Frito honor question is geographically based. During our chili fundraiser planning, a Welshman newly arrived to the wilds of Arkansas seemed both horrified and fascinated by the existence of a Frito. We actually had to call a temporary halt to the meeting to explain what it was to him.One must take into consideration the times in which it lived and the society that consumed it. Context is everything! For example, is a Frito Pie an honorable comestible?
However, there was a Dane present at the fundraiser who ate some Fritos enthusiastically and without question. I was dying to quiz him about his knowledge of Fritos before he came to America, but they had me shoved in a corner doing something else and I never had the chance.
