Union intelligence chief Colonel Lafayette Baker is sitting at center, Lieutenant Everton Conger is on the right, and Lieutenant Luther Baker is on the left. Taken by Alexander Gardner. My guess is that it was taken some time after the manhunt in 1865.

Luther Baker held the dieing Booth in his arms. Baker used part of the reward to purchase land here in Lansing Michigan. The land was purchased by R.E. Olds and became the site of the REO automobile plant which built REO cars, trucks and power lawn mowers. Baker has a street here in town named for him.

Wouldn't mind having the photographs enlarged....I'm interested in Lt. Conger's pocket contents.

It is interesting that the two Lieutenants are not wearing rank insignias, unless they were detailed to soft clothes.

I'd also be interested in clearer picture of the object on the table, looks like a figurine--now, it is interesting if its a inkstand/inkwell/pen rest or a pipe stand with a tobacco container. Rather hefty looking.
