You know you have issues with buying uniform books when you purchase books in languages you can not read. I have well over a dozen uniform books I can not read. I have books in French, German, Danish, Italian, Russian, Polish, and Japanese. Do other people buy books in languages they are unable to read?

I only have books I can not read!! written in English! lol
Seriously, I also have books written in various languages, but not in Japanese. In my library (now) there were only books in English and Italian, the others were finished in the basement.

The Funkens did groundbreaking work on uniform and military costume when there were few other artists taking the field of study seriously. Although they sometimes came to incorrect conclusions, like their medieval stuff :nah disagree:, their contribution is enormous.

The Unit designations are usually clear. When the price is right they are worth it.

Did Confederate Marines get British belts and cap boxes? That's clearly a snake buckle belt in the illustration, but it also has the shape of a British cap pouch. They look larger and flatter than American ones.

The image is from the Company of Military Historians Uniforms in America series. I can look up the plate and discription.

randy 3646.jpg One of my favorite books in Italian, but it has some English translations. Who does not love Italian airborne soldiers?
