I was thinking of getting a U. S. Waist Belt from MB&S and noticed they have three options: 1. Belt With Standing Loop 2. Belt With Brass Clip 3. Plain Belt (No Loop, No Clips). I heard the brass keeper didn't come till later in the war. Any recommendations/preferences or information on what was most common?

I'm not sure when the brass keeper came into use but I've never spotted many in period photos. And coming from experience my Union kit had a keeper on the belt and it is a pain in the neck passing accoutrements over it, I ended up cutting it off. If it were me I'd pass on the keeper and the loop and keep it plain. You've gone to the right place by the way, I have a pair of shoes from him and a set of CS accoutrements and they are first class. Nice guy to boot if you get him on the phone.
