U.S. Senate passes bill to expand Kennesaw Mountain Park
By Dave Williams – Staff Writer, Atlanta Business Chronicle

The U.S. Senate approved a public lands legislative package Tuesday that would expand and protect three Georgia historic sites, including Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

The legislation also includes the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park in Macon, Ga., and the Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simons Island, Ga.

The measures were co-sponsored by Georgia's two senators, Republicans Johnny Isakson and David Perdue.

"This legislation will give visitors a chance to experience Georgia's history while also providing an economic boost for the tourism industry," Isakson said.

Excellent. There is quite a bit of the Kennesaw Mountain battlefield on private property. Maybe they'll get the land where "Texas Rock" is located.
