I’m looking for information concerning anything involving the movements during the retreat from Nashville between Tuscumbia, Alabama and Corinth, Mississippi from December 28, 1864 to January 03, 1865. Particularly anything to do with the Memphis & Charleston Railway.

I have the diary of a private who was with the 28th Mississippi Cavalry. He crossed the Tennessee River at Bainbridge, Alabama on the 28th, and he reported his location at dusk on December 31, 1864 as bivouacked near Iuka, Mississippi.

On January 01, 1865 he is noted by others as being back at Tuscumbia, but his diary only reports his location at dusk as “cold deck”.

On January 03, 1865 he reports his location at sundown as bivouacked on the Mobile & Ohio Railway about 15 miles south of Corinth.

I’m really hoping to validate that he could have been back in Tuscumbia on January 01, 1865. ---Thanks---
