The hat isn't civil war era but I'm quite proud that the family sent me our great grandfathers 13 Th Cav Company H. Dress cap. It dates to 1905 when this unit was formed in North Dakota. It was most noted for fighting off the Poncho Villa raids It was decommissioned for a few decades but now serves again, with deployment to northern Afghanistan as it's recent assignment. Since the the new format a few months ago I've had trouble adding attachments. Will add picture if I can figure it out . Help may be needed, Thanks in advance.

Well, I guess I'm glad I'll not disappoint when announce the Blue Kepi is 13th Inf co H ,the old first at Shiloh of Sherman fame. I hadn't opened the original box( made in St Louis size 6 7/8s.),relied on my Uncle's call. Wrong, but not disappointing it's beautiful and the insignia does date it between 1896 and 1905.
