The mystery artillery round looks more like a Hale Rocket.

Great Story, I love to see them getting the students involved as this is where future archeologist come from. I'm with @redbob on the Hale rocket and I believe the other mystery piece looks like the inner workings of a clock.

Contact him and let them know, God knows the kids should be taught "accuracy!" :wink: The next article I just posted even has the wrong date regarding the attack on Frankfort. Probably a type o but nonetheless inaccurate to anyone ignorant about the importance of the Civil War

I think that the first thing that they need to do is bring in someone that knows what they are doing or else credibility is out the window. And a "Battleax"? this wasn't the middle ages.
