Have anyone read the book Traveller by Richard Adams?
I really liked that book, it was very sad.
It so happens that I'm reading Traveller right now. I suppose it would be classified as a novel for adolescents, but Adams has captured pretty well the point of view of a horse, complete with horse emotions. He has also structured the book nicely, with Traveller recounting his memories of the War to a stable cat. The last section, in the "present" of 1870, is particularly poignant because the horse can't understand what has finally happened.
