National Pistachio Day

1852 John Harvey Kellogg was born. He developed the first breakfast cereal for his patients called "Granose", flaked wheat and toasted corn flakes.

1902 John L. Mason died. He patented the medal screw on lid for glass jars. used in canning. Known as the "Mason Jar".

1903 Richard Gatling died. He is best known for his famous gun. He also developed machine for sowing rice, wheat and other grains and invented the steam plow.

1904 Dr. Seuss was born. One of my favorite of his books, "Green Eggs and Ham".

1935 "Porky Pig" made his debut in "I Haven't Got a Hat".

1942 The Stage Door Canteen was opened in New York. It was place for servicemen to have free night of dancing, food and nonalcoholic drinks. They also got to rub shoulders with many celebrities of the time.

2012 Women sells a McDonald Chicken McNugget that resembles President George Washington for $8,100.

1897 Dr. John Kellogg served corn flakes for first time to his patients at his hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan.

1914 The Coca Cola Bottler's Association began.

1913 Dixie Cup developed by Lawrence Luellen and Hugh Moore.

1923 Cutty Sark Scots Whisky created by Berry Brothers and Rudd in Scotland.

1965 Astronaut John Young smuggled a corned beef sandwich on the first Gemini Spacecraft flight.

1965 The International House of Pancakes trademark registered.

2008 Al Copeland died. He was founder of Popeye's restaurant chain.

For me, March 23 very important day, as it is my husband, Paul's birthday.
