Tim was a peer reviewer for my book Conflicting Memories on the River of Death, since his work on the Chickamauga Battlefield was important to my analysis of the park's purpose as a commemorative site. His input got the book published and he wrote the back cover blurb. He continues to cite it in his relevant work on battlefields and preservation. I had a chance to review his work on the history of battlefield preservation (Altogether Fitting and Proper: Civil War Battlefield Preservation in History, Memory, and Policy--UT Press, 2017) for the journal Louisiana History in 2018. Met him at a conference and he seemed a terrific fellow. I will forever be in his debt for his support.
